We are pleased to announce that the virtual training course - Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE™) will be conducted in August with the collaboration of the Network for Enhancing Wellness in Disaster-Affected Youth (NEW DAY).
Training Course Description
About CARE™
Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE™) is a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive set of skills based on several strong evidence-based parenting programs. CARE™ uses specific skills for general use by all adults who interact or work with children, including those who have experienced trauma. Respond with CARE™ skills are designed to a) connect with children in a positive way, b) increase compliance with adult instructions, and c) decrease many problematic behaviors and reactions commonly noted after exposure to disasters or crisis events.
• CARE™ is appropriate for use for children ages 2-18.
• Adapted for use across a variety of settings and populations.
• Culturally informed and delivered in a flexible manner.
Learning objectives:
By the completion of the training, participants will be able to:
- Discuss how trauma impacts child development, behaviors, and relationships, including the impact of COVID and the Social Justice Movement.
- Identify at least 2 reasons why use of CARE™ skills with children and teens may benefit those with a trauma history.
- List 3 ways to improve relationships with children and teens, including how to improve behaviors in children and teens.
- Discuss how to help adults provide instructions that are more likely to improve compliance.
- Discuss how CARE™ skills can be easily implemented into any setting or interaction with children and teens, including foster care homes.
- List at least 3 signs of compassion fatigue.
- Discuss the PRN and BASIC Ph for self-care.
- Identify when outside help may be needed.

- The CARE™ virtual training course is exclusively for IACAPAP members.
- Participation is free, but registration is required in advance. Each session is limited to 20 people.
- The confirmation of registration is based on a first-come, first-served basis. After registration, you will receive a notification of your course registration (accepted, rejected or waitlisted) within three (03) working days.
- When you register for a virtual training course, you consent to share your application details with IACAPAP for course preparation purposes.
- Attendees who complete the course will receive a certificate of attendance.
