Matthew Hodes, MBBS, PhD, FRCPsych

Matthew Hodes works as Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Westminster Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, in Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Division of Psychiatry, Imperial College London. His research interests include: cultural and migration influences on mental health in young people, the interface between physical and mental health, and evidence-based treatments in child and adolescent psychiatric disorders especially depression and anxiety disorders. In recent years, clinical work has been with young people with depression and anxiety disorders, and he has leadership roles in the development of pathways and innovations in treatment for these disorders.


Matthew has carried out research and taught at Imperial College London over many years, and supervised numerous research dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has been active in specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry internationally and across the UK. This work has included the development of national curricula and the implementation of training across London.


Matthew has published approximately 100 papers and chapters. He is Lead Editor for the IACAPAP Monographs, and has co-edited four books in this series. Since 2017 they have been available by open access on the IACAPAP website.
